“The mystery of life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced.”

It’s not uncommon when going through a period of pain or suffering to feel stigmatised by the experience. For some time, people experiencing mental ill health have found accessing service increases this stigma by being diagnosed as ‘abnormal’. Unfortunately, this is the result of a healthcare system that looks to investigation, diagnose and treat mental ill health the same way treatment for physical health problems are prescribed.

At Keystone Psychology, we believe there is another way. A radical way. A way to understand psychological pain and suffering that shifts us away from a mental illnesses that need treatment towards a recognition of universal human experience and responses to challenging and distressing life situations.

“When suffering knocks at your door and you say there is no seat for him, he tells you not to worry because he has brought his own stool.”

Shifting the perspective on mental ill health is a challenge in itself. Clinical Psychologists have been advocating for a different approach to understanding mental ill health for many years. Research has provided us with a substantial evidence base which show the benefit of talking therapies for those suffering with mental ill health. This can be offered alongside medical interventions such as medicines or in its own right.

About Keystone Psychology 1

The focus of Keystone Psychology to improve the psychological well-being of the clients we work with. This work focuses on you as an individual by identifying what is important to you at this time in your life. This will help the setting of goals for therapy. Therapy should never be something you need indefinitely, instead you should finish therapy feeling equipped to deal with future challenges without input from a professional.

“Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fall.”

It can be difficult to make that first move towards seeking help. Even if you are unsure whether accessing support from a Clinical Psychologist is right for you, why not get in contact to discuss the options further. You can use the contact form on our website or email us direct.

We look forward to hearing from you!
