Frequently Asked Questions

We offer both daytime and evening appointments. Currently, the clinic runs on a Tuesday in Louth with a variety of appointment time slots available. Please contact us for more details and let us know your preferred appointment time. We can’t always guarantee the time you request will be available, however, we will do our best to find a time that suits you.

We currently offer our clinic in a private room at Maridian Leisure Centre Louth. There is a large car park with disabled parking spaces available. You can report to reception and wait in the cafe seating. You will be collected for the appointment from reception at the appointment start time.

We understand that sometimes things can happen in life that mean you need to cancel your appointment. We ask that you do this as soon as possible so that we can offer the appointment time to someone else. We have details of our cancellation policy in our Terms and Conditions which you will receive a copy of prior to your initial assessment appointment. Please note, sessions cancelled within 72 hours of the appointment start time will incur a charge in line with the cancellation policy.

Keystone Psychology is a self-referral service so we do not require a referral from your GP. However, we are also happy to accept referrals from GPs and other healthcare professionals. We will keep your GP informed of your input with our service and we can discuss this with you further at your initial assessment appointment.

We are registered with all the main health insurance providers, so if you are covered, we should be able to see you. However, it is best to contact your insurance provider in the first instance to check what cover you have and to find out what you need to do to access our service. Once your treatment has been approved by your insurance provider, you will be given an authorisation number, which you will need to give us when you book your first session.

It is understandable that people are sometimes nervous about attending the first appointment.

Your initial session provides the opportunity for you to talk about how you are struggling with your well-being. It will last maximum of 1 hour and you don’t need to prepare for the appointment. Just arrive for your appointment and we will take it from there.

In the session, we will ask you a few questions about your situation and tell you a bit more about how we work and what might be best for you. You will be surprised how quickly time flies in the initial session.

Everything you tell us in your sessions is confidential and will not be passed on to anyone without your permission, including your GP (except in situations where there is risk of harm to yourself and/or others, which we will speak to you about in the initial session). Sometimes it is helpful for us to let your GP know you are working with us and we will talk to you about this if we feel this is the case. However, other than this, all material disclosed is confidential and will not be entered onto your medical records.
